Manila Rice, Rice Baby!
For today’s post I have a recipe for a dish that was actually made during the late 80’s by my Ate Ban-Ban. Ate Ban-Ban was really into mainstream American rap music at the time, and rice. Her favorite hip hop song was (and still is) “Ice, Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice.
Here is documented footage of this ancient American tribal song and dance being performed.
So she decided to create a dish to celebrate her Filipino-Americanness: “Manila Rice, Rice Baby”, named after this first hip hop single to ever top the Billboard charts. I hope you enjoy eating this because it isn’t edible.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups vanilla
- 2 cups rice
- 1 cup ice
- Salt & Pepa (to taste)
Pour contents into rice cooker, pre-heat to medium rare. Pour into a painter’s bucket. Take paint brush and mix until steaming. Paint a tshirt with it.
Serve.
