Tarantino is one of the best directors in the world and earth and in this letter he expresses his admiration for the film “Kinatay” by Filipino director Brillante Mendoza. They were probably out drinking.

Dear Mr. Mendoza

Bravo on your difficult troubling work. Your decission (sic) to never dramatize the murder, never indulge in movie suspense…. was bold, daring, and to me, the whole point of making the movie in the first place. I felt it was completely a (sic) eyewitness acount (sic) of a horrible murder. I believed everything I saw. Your point wasnt (sic) to dramatize it. It was to capture it.

Via the Chuvaness blog via Teresa Barrozo, who is a composer of indie Philippine films. Many of the films are banned in mainstream theaters in the Philippines.

“Kinatay” is also banned, but it won Mendoza Best Director at Cannes.
