Sketching a beach, on the beach

Sketching a beach, on the beach

Sketching has been a relaxing pastime so far in the city, but it was nice to do it out in nature. Specifically on a very inviting white beach on the coast of Pangasinan.

Sketching what I later found to be Dasol Bay. Tambobong beach is probably the furthest west you can go in Pangasinan.

We also enjoyed some silogs along with the view: tapsilog and Alaminos longsilog. Alaminos longganisa is unique to the town of Alaminos, Pangasinan. They’re red and garlicky, but not as fatty and juicy as Cebuano chorizo. The longganisa “links” are also “pinned” together by coconut leaf midribs that look like toothpicks.

Alaminos longganisa
Alaminos longganisa is named after the town from which it hails. You can buy them in markets or mga palengke in Alaminos by the dozen in small, medium, or large link sizes.

Tambobong beach is predominantly local. And what I mean by that is it hasn’t been overrun by commercial establishments or hyper-tourism. Yet.

Bangka on white beach in Dasol, Pangasinan

Alona beach in Bohol is a different story. Stories from Siargao seem just as bleak. I’ll likely post about all that another time, but I don’t want to. For now, it’s just nice to enjoy what we have in places a bit further from the beaten path.
