Stickers & more by Filipino artists at Komiket
Komiket is a large gathering of local artists of different genres and styles. I attended my first one at Centris in Quezon City a few years ago. It was there that I realized there were so many talented illustrators and artists, and I even got to talk and meet a few as well.
One of the special things about Komiket is that it is open to both new and veteran artists. From what I learned, it is quite affordable and easy to get a table and start selling art at the Komiket events. This allows people to find new up and coming artists, as well as to get autographs from more popular artists as well, all in the same place.
This year I made sure to attend my second Komiket, this time during the holiday season: Paskomiket 2022. This would be where I’d meet even more artists, and enjoy some of the art they made.
Filipino food stickers by Courtney Ngo
Courtney’s Filipino street food and desserts stickers caught my eye, but she also makes art of various themes, with adorable animals and human characters.

“Abante Babae” stickers by Marian Hukom
Loved the “Abante Babae” stickers and other artwork by Marian Hukom. Her bright and unique art style complements the empowering messages seen in much of her art.

Baybayin earrings by Chelabian Arya
As I was browsing the isles of artists I saw Baybayin earrings by an artist of Iranian and Filipino ancestry. The earrings come emblazoned with his calligraphy of different Filipino words written in Baybayin.

Witty stickers by Heaven Sartaguda
If you don’t know already, I love Filipino puns, so these were fun to see. I also like beer and Legos, so I had to get these stickers by Heaven Sartaguda.

“Pusang Galactic” stickers by David Sysing
Loved this “Pusang Galactic” series of artwork by David Sysing. It features muscular and highly-detailed characters that upon closer inspection, were comic book villains portrayed as cats!

Bright and colorful art by Chinny Basinang
Chinny Basinang is known for her bright and bold color pallette, which helps magnify important messages in her artwork. She also contributed art, messaging, and even some awesome t-shirt designs for the presidential campaign for Leni Robredo in early 2022.

Postcard art by Marius Black
I got to meet Marius Black also known as Manila UkiyoE, known for his detailed and eccentrically-Filipino artworks. His art highlights common and daily sights in his home neighborhood of Tondo, Manila.

Jollibee-themed stickers by Jouache
This was a brilliant sticker pack by Jouache. The pack includes stickers that spoof Jollibee menu items and paraphernalia, and is itself contained in a box inspired by Jollibee pie packaging.

Tarsier hologram sticker by Abigail Gabriel
Not only did this tarsier catch my eye, but the sticker itself is also holographic. Loved how it was in a “snow globe”, but as Abigail mentioned to me, she opted for a “leaf globe” since there is no snow in the Philippines :).

More witty stickers by Fine Time Studios
Again, love puns and witty logo design takes so I enjoyed browsing the abundance of witty remarks and captions in these stickers by Fine Time Studios.

“Sierra Madre” sticker by St. Ninotchka
St. Ninotchka’s themes and style have a classic and sometimes even a religious feel to them. But they’re also often juxtaposed with quirky messaging and even lightly sacrilegious content, which makes me love it even more.

Manila Girls stickers by Akim.63
I also got these “Manila Girls” stickers by Akim.63. She also works with Manila heritage building activists from Renacimiento Manila, and uses her art to advocate for local historical sites from Intramuros to Binondo.
